Kade's Surgery

Our baby had his first surgery today - he had the vessels cauterized to stop his nose bleeds. We had it done at The Surgery Center where Aunt Debbie works and boy did he get special treatment - everyone was wonderful. They took him to the back and we went to the waiting room at 8:20 and by 8:40 the doctor came out and told us that he was done and it all went well. The nurse then came out and got us, so we went to the recovery area and I held him while he woke up. He wasn't feeling the greatest while coming out of the anesthesia, but once again got the special treatment and soon was ready for a wheelchair ride. No, not everyone gets a wheelchair ride, only the special patients (and their brothers). He also raked up on the prizes, I didn't think we could get anymore SpongeBob things, but I was wrong. He's now laying on the couch with the remote in his hand soaking up all the attention.

Last night Kade told me that he had an idea - he was going to stay up real late, that way he would be sleeping and they wouldn't have to put him to sleep this morning.
When we were driving there this morning, Noah said "Kade's the one having the surgery, so why am I so nervous? Also, after the doctor came out, Noah said "now can we go see him?" - he just couldn't wait to see his brother.

Healthy Boys

I must say, we are very blessed with two healthy boys. It is not very often that they have to go to the doctor, but we do schedule a yearly check up just to make sure. Today was that check up and once again they received a clean bill of health. At the age of 5, Kade weighs 50 lbs and is 45 inches tall, and at the age of 10 Noah is double Kade's weight (plus a little) and 59 inches tall.

Kade is going to have a small procedure at the Surgery Center tomorrow to hopefully stop his nose bleeds. Noah had the same procedure done when he was 5, and since then he's only had one or two, so we hope Kade's is just as successful. So, if you think about it about 8 tomorrow morning, say a little prayer for my baby.

FUN Friday

What a BLAST!
I had heard of a fun amusement place, so I researched it and decided it was something we had to do. I called up the family and we made plans to go. We got there about 11 am and didn't leave until about 7:30 pm, and yes, it was that much fun - Conner wanted to spend the night and live there.

Work in Progress

I had hoped to post on the finished product, but we hit a snag, so here's the work in progress and in a week or so I will show you the finished project.

More Summer Projects

We love that Brian is able to be at home all summer with the boys, and to get things done around the house. (do you feel a but coming?) But. . . anything we save in daycare or school (plus some) goes to summer projects. We've already had the batting cage, then he built this awesome swing frame - only when he hung our old swing on it, I saw the need for a new one - a bigger one, so one more summer project, putting together the new swing we bought.
Can a root canal count as a summer project?? I think so since I'm the one experiencing it.
AND. . . The BIG project is in the final stages and hopefully I'll be posting on it being finished next week.
Now the boys are talking about and planning for a tree house - no rest for the weary - I'm not sure if the weary is Brian or our checkbook :)

Fourth Festivities

We had a fun festive fourth with some work thrown in too (post on that coming soon).
Friday evening we went to PoPo & MoMo for supper and the kids got to do a few fireworks.
Saturday we went to the parade and to the park to check out the classic cars and craft booths, then back home for more work.

So much for quiet time. . . .

I just posted last night about having some quiet time while they were at the movies (if you haven't read it yet scroll down and do so now. . . . ) – well so much for that. . . . I guess I should have used the quite time to go to sleep extra early (. . .but the computer. . & the remote. . . . )
I went to bed about 10:30 and actually went to sleep pretty quickly. About 1:45 I woke up and saw that they weren’t home yet, so I went to the computer (which was still on because of an upload going on) and pulled up the drive-in website and found out that the second movie that started at 11:40 was 2 hours and 9 minutes long, so I knew it was just about over and they should be home soon. I went and laid back down and within 10 to 15 minutes I heard them drive up. Brian carried a sleeping Kade into his room, Noah & Rina went to Noah’s room and Beau left to take Courtney home then to go home himself (the time is a little after 2 am). So Brian finally got everyone settled and came to bed, we talked a couple of minutes, then he was fast asleep, and I, well, I laid there and listened to him sleep until about 4 - finally - remember I am the one who has to go to work. . . .
About 4:40 I hear “mom” - not the usual LOUD whaling MOOOMM from Kade, just a soft ‘mom’ so I get up and go toward their rooms for the following:
Me: what?
Silence
Me: who called me?
Noah: it was me
Me: what’s wrong?
Noah: I just threw up in my bed
Me: IN your bed!!??
Noah: I tried to get out but couldn’t
(when they got in from the movies he & Rina both crashed in his room and he was up against the wall and couldn’t get out of his bed)
Me: well get out now and go to the bathroom
(I know, doesn’t sound like a caring mom, I feel bad now)
So he went to the bathroom, I sent Rina to sleep in the computer room, and I headed to the kitchen to get something to help me clean it up. On the way back I stopped by the bathroom and ask if he was okay (see I am a caring mom) and he says “Yeah, I feel fine now”. As I’m cleaning (and gaging) he comes in there and asks where he should go and sleep, I told him on the floor in our room or Kade’s room, so he took a quilt and some pillows and went to sleep in our room while I continued to clean (and gag). I cleaned it up, stripped the bed, and took the sheets outside to sprayed them off with the water hose and then started the washer and threw them in.
Finally I laid back in my bed, after a few minutes I wondered if I cut the outside light off, so I got back up and went to check, well that light was off, but I left the kitchen light on, and I noticed that the washer wasn’t going, so I went to check on that and realized I didn’t shut the lid, so I did and headed back to bed. I laid back down and started to drift away when all of a sudden I hear (the LOUD whaling) MOOOMM from Kade, so I get back up and go check on him. He tells me his fingers hurt and feel funny, so I told him they were probably sleeping and for him to move them around a little, so he did and before I could say anything else he was sound asleep again, so I covered him up and went back to my room - it's now about 5:30. Ahh, once again, finally. . . . I closed my eyes and the next thing I knew my alarm was going off. . . argh. . . time to get up. . . Which I did, and went and put the sheets in the dryer and the comforter in the washer, then took myself to the shower, got ready, went back got the comforter out of the washer and hung it on the line, and put the matress cover in the washer. I then went to give my rounds of kisses to sleeping kids and hubby. When I got to hubby, Noah looked up at me so I told him he could get up in the bed with dad and Brian asked who was in there. . . I politely told him it was Noah and the reason (he had no idea of all that went on because he was sound asleep) .
Good thing a weekend is here because I really have some sleep to catch up on ;)

My Honey

Today is my amazing, wonderful, loving, handsome, hard working, hubby's birthday.
This evening his parents took us out to eat and my sister's family also joined us. Afterward his parents came to the house for a little while, and now Brian, Noah, Kade, Rina, Beau & Courtney went to the drive in movies. I didn't go because I have to work tomorrow and they are staying for both movies - the second one starts at 11:40. So here I am enjoying my quiet time with the remote to myself, the computer to myself, only one little lamp on, only one TV on, no video games going. . . you get the picture.
Happy Birthday Honey!! You're the Greatest and we love you bunches!!!!!
