'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will make straight your path.'

School is Cool . . . sometimes

Noah came home yesterday with an assignment to make a poster and write a campaign paragraph to run for class president. It's an assignment the whole class has to do, then they will all cast their votes. Even though he says he doesn't want to win, he's excited about doing this assignment - it's not due until next week, but he already finished the poster, and part of the way through the paragraph. He probably would have finished but we make him stop to study for one of the four tests he has this week. This excitement coming from a 10 year old boy who hardly every shows excitement toward school, unless it involves sports or his buddies; a boy who forgets his book in school because the test is still two days away. But I'm glad to see he's excited about it. Oh, and his brother is would make a great campaign manager - he's been copying Noah's poster and posting them around the house.
On to the not so cool part, no, I'm not talking about actually going, or having to study, or taking tests, I'm talking about getting in trouble. This same boy who doesn't want to be class president because he might have to talk in front of people got in trouble yesterday for doing just that - talking.
Back to the Cool (I wanted to end on a good note) - Kade is Student of the Week!!! He remembered to tell me on Saturday that the spotlight was on him this week. We went through photo albums and found pictures of him to be posted in the classroom. He also had to answer questions about himself, like his birthday, where he was born, his favorite animal, his wish, etc. And on Friday we will send treats for the class to enjoy at snack time.
Way to go guys, we are always so proud of us!!!

Kinder funnies

In order for me to remember all these little funnies that my baby says and does, I decided to post about them.
A couple of weeks ago, he told me that he and a couple of the girls at his table had their hands under the table and would knock on it and then tell Sister Ann that someone was at the door. She actually checked a couple of times, then caught on to the stinkers and asked them to cut it out.
This week he was telling me that they have to sit quietly at their tables with their arms crossed, and then sister called on them (I'm not quite sure the reason he was tell me, maybe to get a sticker for being quiet or something. . . ). I asked what happened, and he said "I told her 'Sister, I'm sitting here with my arms crossed and quiet and you didn't call on me". All she said was she didn't see me, but I know she did.
Kindergarten at SCS will not be the same after our son leaves. . . . . .

A Great Birthday

I had a great birthday yesterday. We started the morning with soccer pictures and a game, then we went to my parents for lunch and cake, and in the evening we had a few friends over.

Kade made me several cards, and he helped me around the house and told me that was his gift to me. Brian & the boys also gave me a gift card to the spa - yeah!! and one of our friends gave me a lottery ticket and I won $25, another yeah!!

And look at the fun the kids had while the adults were enjoying the evening outside - the took all the pillows they could find and stacked them in the doorway and then would crash through and play and wrestle in the pile. Okay so I came in to observe and take pictures.

Toot Toot

Noah is in his first year of band so we are going to be blessed with many wonderful sounds. The band director suggests that they practice in front of a mirror, and that is perfectly fine with us because we can close the door to block out some of the noise. Right now it's just practicing with the mouth piece, soon it will be the complete instrument. I'm glad he's interested in playing an instrument and willing to practice, his brother on the other hand isn't so glad - he borrowed a pair of ear plugs from our friend to help him through those practice times.

That time again

Kade had his first soccer game Saturday morning, and did really well. This year he's more in to it and hustles and gets in there to get the ball. He took the ball down the field and scored, I was so proud of him.
After the game we drove over to a neighboring town to watch and cheer on Juliette & Katarina run cross country. I think it was 2 miles that they ran. Juliette finished 19th out of 89, I don't know where Rina finished, but she did it and I admire all of them for getting out there and doing it.
Yep, it's that time again - running, running. . . .Kade has another game tomorrow, and Noah has soccer practice, with games starting soon.

Sixty Nine Years Young

Thursday was mom's (aka Granny) birthday. I brought her a cake and the boys & I sang to her, then we went to a volleyball games and took her out to eat.
Today we all went to their house for lunch, and we had a great time. We talked, talked about people, retold stories, and laughed until we cried.
Happy Birthday Mom - We Love You!!

Snip, Snip

Kade was playing with his Aggie uniform & helmet today which is nothing unusual. He was also wearing Noah's cap, but I didn't think much of that either, until I went to our bathroom and discovered this . .

I called him in there and asked if he was the one who did that and he said no. I asked if he was sure, that Jesus knows if he's lying and that mom knows too. He asked how I know, so I told him to stand on the stool and look in the mirror, it was pretty obvious - not horrible, but obvious.

So, we tried to straighten it out, but he wouldn't hold still long enough, so this is the best we got.

20 years . . .

Hard to believe, but I had my 20 year class reunion last night. We had a great time reminiscing about the good old days and catching up with everyone. We had a good turn out too, out of a graduation class of 26, there were only 5 who were unable to make it.

Gig Em

Football season is here. MoMo & PoPo took the boys to the Aggie game yesterday, not only did they have a good time, the Ags won, and the boys got to spend the night with MoMo & PoPo.

Big Brother's Birthday

Yesterday was my big brother's birthday, well he's my only brother, but still. We stopped by their house, hand delivered his card and sang to him. Happy 46th Donnie hope it was a great day!

little things . . .

It's the little things that can put a big smile on my face -

Things Like

enjoying a pedicure at the spa with my sister

coming home to a clean house after being gone a couple of days
(thanks to my wonderful hubby who had to stay behind due to work)

Kade playing dominoes with his great Aunt Mary

Noah talking about base cleft and treble cleft
(I've always wanted my kids to be interested in music)

Kade 'reading' his library (or as he says liberry) book

all the cute little voices, the stories and the honest answers on the soccer field
(I'm coaching Kade's team again this year - I have three 5 year olds and three 4 year olds)

and this . . . . . .
why does this put a smile on my face????
because it means Noah folded the towels for me
