'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will make straight your path.'

The talent show

To bring Catholic Schools Week to a close our school holds an annual talent show. The classes do a little song, dance, skit, or whatever. The little ones are so cute. Kade's class sang and danced to a monkey song, Noah & Katarina's class did Kung Fu moves, Angelette's class danced to something, Juliette did the chicken dance, and Nicolette's class acted as some TV stars. It's always fun to watch.
The kids have fun doing it, but what they like even more is No School tomorrow.

CSW - day 2

I had a simply wonderful day - today for Catholic Schools Week was parent appreciation day, and a balloon launch. It was great. I took the day off to help out and spend the day with they boys. After dropping them off I went over and helped a group of other parents with the balloon launch activities. Some worked on balloon, some painted signs, and I helped with the hand cut-outs. It was really fun working and visiting with other parents.
Brian had a work day at school (student holiday), so he was able to come over and we had lunch with the boys. We ate with Kade, and then his teacher let him stay with us and wait for Noah. A couple our our nieces even joined us - they all felt special to be at a different table than all their classmates. After their lunches, Brian went back to work, and the kids all returned to their classes as it was almost time for the balloon launch.
The whole school then met on the football field - they all had their Eco Friendly balloons and waited for the countdown, then released then all at one time.
After some cleanup I picked Kade up, we ran a few errands then went home to do some laundry before going back to pick Noah up after school. Kade said "today was the best day", and I have to agree, it was really good.
Tuesday for CSW is teacher appreciation, so the HSA asked the parents to send $ for a catered meal, a desserts, and for volunteers to substitute for the classes so the teachers all can have the luncheon together. I haven't sent the dessert in the past, but decided to do so this year, I made one of my favorite, it looked so yummy, I hope they enjoy it. After being with the children all day, it really makes me appreciate the teachers.
Wednesday is student appreciation - Noah is looking forward to this - the teachers do something special for the kids.
Thursday is the Chicken Noodle Soup Supper and the Variety show, which is always fun.
and
Friday is no school.
I may have to start taking more days off during Catholic Schools Week. :)

Catholic Schools Week - Day 1

Today Catholic Schools Week was started with mass, then pancake breakfast and open house. After mass we went and enjoyed a yummy pancake and sausage breakfast with MoMo & PoPo. Then we walked over to the classrooms and met up with Granny, Aunts and cousins. We enjoyed looking through the special projects they have completed to show off today. Kade's teacher also had a slide show and photo albums of things they have done so far this year. Noah's papers were impressive too - he had to write a persuasive paper on his favorite book(s) which was very good, and he drew some great pictures too.

Fun In a Box

1 box + 4 boys = tons of fun
It was windy and cooler today, so the kids were playing in the garage at Granny & PawPaw's and found a big box from Beau's TV. First Noah was in it and Beau was flipping him all around, then they put Kade & Conner in it. They had so much fun. So you know how big the box was . . . Beau & Noah fit in it together - no the little ones were not able to turn or flip the two big boys

Timing

I am always in awe of wonderful stories of how people are alive or saved from happenings because of different circumstances or as I like to think, God's perfect timing. Like the people who were spared in the 9-11 tragedy because they stopped for donuts or just happened to be running late. They may have been angry that they were running late, but now realize that it was God saving them. Anyway, getting to my point, one of our relatives passed away this weekend, and the funeral was this morning. Mom wasn't sure if she would make it in time to get Kade at noon, so I arranged with Brian's mom to keep him with her at school until mom could get there. Well, my sister called me about 12:30 asking who had Kade, and I told her the arrangement. She then told me that she heard on the radio that the highway had been closed due to an accident. I checked in with mom, they had just left the luncheon, and she was going to be on her way to get Kade. She did hear that the road was closed. She later found out that a big company truck had flipped, took out a guardrail on a bridge, and left a lot of debris on the road.
I can't help but feel (or know) that it was God in action again - mom and Kade would have been on this road very close to the time of the accident. . . all I can say is Thank You God!

Noah is 10

Unbelievable but true, our first born is 10 years old today.
The day started out with Kade, Brian & I waking him up and singing to him, then I let him open the gift from us before heading to school. He was even more excited because he didn't have to wear a spirit shirt to school today due to getting all of his AR points - he told me it was the schools gift to him, that he got to wear a football jersey to school on his birthday - but he earned it. After school we picked up him and all but two boys in his class (12 total) and had a party at the park. It turned out Great!!! The weather was beautiful, a true blessing this time of the year, and the boys all had a fun time. Brian was all time quarterback for their football game and he also served as the ref.
Noah is our easy going child, he's loving, smart, creative, a great big brother, and an all around good kid. We love him more than words can say.

Cleaning Poem

I received the following poem via email today, and thought it's fitting. I don't know who the author is, but it's too cute not to share.
My Cleaning Poem
I asked the Lord to tell me
Why my house is such a mess.
He asked if I'd been 'computering',
And I had to answer 'yes.'
He told me to get off my fanny
And tidy up the house.
And so I started cleaning up...
The smudges off my mouse.
I wiped and shined the topside.
That really did the trick....
I was just admiring my work...

I didn't mean to 'click.'
But click, I did, and oops I found
A real absorbing site.
That I got SO way into.
I was into it all night. <>
Nothing's changed except my mouse
It's very, very shiny.
I guess my house will stay a mess...
While I sit here on my hiney!!

Time Flies

The tree is down, the decorations are back in the attic, and the photos are in the album. My goal of the day today was to get the tree and decorations down, and with some help from my loving family my mission is complete.
Now on to the next event, Noah's birthday is only a week away. He's going to be 10!!! can you believe that. . . . . I have a 10 year old, wow!!
Then, this evening I watched the Barbara Walters Special with Patrick Swayze and they said Dirty Dancing (one of my all time favorite movies) came out 22 years ago. 22 years!!! how can that be, I can't be that old. After hearing and thinking of all of this, I also realized that we are now in 2009, so that means that this year will be my 20 year class reunion - no way!!! Darn I'm old - although I really don't think I am, it's just when you hear all the numbers I sound old :)

PoPo's Garden

Brian's dad aka PoPo always has a beautiful garden, and this year is no exception.
He & Kade dug some potatoes and carrots which he sent home with us along with some lettuce and green onions. The carrots looked so good that we washed one off and ate it (I guess we should have washed Kade's fingers too) . All the fresh veggies were very yummy.

It's all over

It was back to work and school today; our holiday vacation is over. We really, really enjoyed our time off, but it's back to the real world - 8 to 5 for me, school and homework for the boys, school and power lifting for Brian. Last night Noah said, now all we have to look forward to is May - that's my boy :)
I'll have to try and get back to posting more now that we might get back to a routine (if that's what you want to call it).

2009!

Happy New Year! 2009 is here!
We spent this New Year's Eve the same we have for the past several years, after attending Mass we go to my brother & sister-in-law's house. It's always a fun evening of playing games, visiting, eating, drinking, fireworks, and at midnight it's noisemakers and more fireworks.

I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed 2009!
