'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will make straight your path.'

Fun at the Park

Brian started back to work yesterday, so the boys had to go back to Granny's. Well, today - day 2 - Kade had a rough day, missing mommy & daddy. So we decided to take them out to eat, then to the new park in Yoakum, which they have been begging us to take them to. To add to the fun, one of their second cousins was able to come and join us at the park.

Summer Project

Every year, my wonderful husband takes on a 'summer project' in addition to keeping the boys, and the other odd jobs needing to be done around the house. This year he re-did the little storage building in our backyard. I was going to do a before and after picture of it, but I can't find my before picture, so you really can't get the full effect of what a great improvement it is.

God's Canvas

Since we moved here, we love to step out our front door to see the sky when the sun is going down. I told that boys that it's God's paintings, and they are different every day. Now every time we see the beautiful colors in the sky, Kade says 'Thank You Jesus for the pretty sky'. And I just can't resist getting the camera out for some of God's amazing artwork. The ones on the water are from sunset cruise in Rockport.

A Day at the Beach that Didn't Happen

We wanted to take the boys to the beach, and have a little family get away. Well it started out with excitement and anticipation, but ended with a little disappointment, but we managed to have a fun time. Tuesday evening I noticed Kade not looking up to par, but hoped it was nothing more than him being tired. Well at 4 am Wednesday morning I was proven right, he woke up crying, burning hot, and saying that his head was hurting. We already had plans to stop in Victoria for lunch with friends on our way, so I called the Dr's office and he fit us in. Kade had 101 temp., and his throat was red, so he gave us an antibiotic that would kick in so we could still have a good time. So two hours later than planned, and Zithromax, Tylenol, and Motrin in hand, we were on our way. Then about 30 minutes from Rockport, my sister calls and tells us that the Dr she works for (who also has property in Rockport) has advised that we NOT get in the ocean water. With all the recent rains, and all of the fresh water dumping into the ocean, then the hot sun, there's bacteria in the waters and some reports of people getting sick from being in it (flesh eating bacteria?!!yikes!!), so we decided in the best interest of our family, we wouldn't go into the ocean waters. Sooo after all of this, we still made the best of it and had fun swimming in the pool at the hotel, going out to eat, and walking on the piers. The highlight was going out on the Dolphin Watching & Sunset Cruise, but best of all the four of us got to spend time together.

Celebration Week!
It's been a busy week & I wasn't able to post more often, so I'll do a recap. We celebrated a few different things, we started off Monday & Tuesday celebrating Brian's Birthday, we went out with family both days. He was sung to several times, and had the privilege of wearing the funny hat, but best of all was the free desserts, yummy! Then Wednesday was the 4th of July and it just wouldn't have been complete without the fireworks and this goofy aunt having the kids wear the silly 'Uncle Sam' hats. We went to my parents in the evening, and all the kids except Cody and Conner were there. Everyone had a lot of fun, I think it was the first time we ever ran completely out of fireworks. We also ran out of punks (or lighters), so the guys had to do a little puffing on some Swisher Sweets, and the kids were able to keep on lighting. Closing the week, we had the Half Moon Holidays on Saturday. We all went to and enjoyed the parade which Katelynn & PoPo both participated in.

Family Vacation

This weekend was our annual family vacation. All of my family, except dad, goes to the lake for a weekend get away. This was our 7th year to go - at that time there was 14 of us, we are now up to 20 - my, we have grown.
We had a lot of fun floating, boating, tubing, boarding, drinking, eating, Wii ing (game system), and just spending time together.
Our only dislike was that the public swim / recreation area wasn't what it has been in the past, so the guys did a little work to clean the area by our cabin, so we had our own private area, and the dislike turned out to something we all enjoyed.

Comments from the kids:
Noah - had a lot of fun, and can't wait unitl next year.
Brooke - got sunburn and doesn't know why because she had sunscreen on :)
Beau - he's soar from wake boarding, and knee boarding,
Nicolette, Juliette, Angelette - do we really have to go home
Cody - fun
Conner - woohoo (toddler talk for fun)
and Kade, well, he's ready to go again next weekend
As for my comments - thank God for a great family, and for a beautiful weekend. After being there the whole weekend with no rain, it poured on us most of the way home
