In light of all that's going on in our lives, I try to get the boys to see how God is with us everyday in everything we do...we may not always see it or realize it, so when we do, I try to point it out...especially to them, but also to myself and others, and what better way to do that than to put it on here...and I think I will add this one to my Memorial Box...
On Monday I asked Noah if he had any homework, of course his answer was 'not really', but a little birdie had already told me about a test in History and something in Religion...
I wasn't too concerned about History because he's doing well in that class, likes the teacher, and enjoys it (especially this year, it's Texas History)...
...However, Religion is a different story (I know, shouldn't be, but he's a junior high boy)...
His teacher likes to make them memorize and recite prayers for a quiz grade, so I asked what he had, and he said he had to learn a bible verse and the quiz was to write it out. He said he'll never remember it, and stinks at spelling all words, so it was no use to study (he's such a boy...drives me crazy).
But I insisted (and resorted to bribing).
He had to learn:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
"Love is patient, love is kind.It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails.."
He went over it and over it, then I would say it with him, we studied History, and in between said the bible verse, we watched some TV and during every commercial he'd mute it and would go over the verse again and again.
That night when we said our prayers we asked God to enlighten Noah and help him to remember the verse he was trying to learn.
The next morning when we said our prayers we again asked God to enlighten Noah and help him with the verse. I privately said a few more prayers throughout the day.
When I picked them up after work, I did my usual inquiring about their day to which I hear all about the current sports they are playing...then I asked Noah "what about Religion?" he said he thought he did pretty good,
he said
"it was weird, I started writing the first couple of lines and got stuck, then, I don't know how, but it all just came to me and I just started writing and writing".
I smiled and looked at him and said I know exactly how...it was God!!!! I reminded him how we had prayed and he said again 'it was weird'
...I checked his grade this morning, and he made a 100...
God is so good!!!
